Most Popular Sizes in Suffolk

The most popular container size in Suffolk is the 20ft container. These units offer excellent value for money and are practical for sites where space is limited. With good planning, a 20ft container can comfortably accommodate a large volume of goods.

40ft high cube containers have also seen strong demand recently, particularly for customers with sufficient space to accommodate them. Pricing has been especially favourable, offering significantly more storage space for less than double the cost of a 20ft unit. At the time of writing, new one-trip 40ft high cube containers start from £3,175.00 + VAT ex Felixstowe.

Why Smaller Containers in Suffolk Cost More Than You Might Expect

Smaller units (10ft and 8ft Containers) are less popular, due to their proportionately high cost. They are not a standard shipping line size, and therefore second hand ones are often made to order by cutting down a 20ft in length to 10ft. This of course adds cost due to the labour required and parts (painting of the fresh welds etc). A second hand 10ft container is more expensive than a second hand 20ft container for this reason.

New 10ft Containers also cost more than a New 20ft. The reason for this is that we have to pay freight charges to ship these to the UK empty – they are too small for the shipping lines to be interested in using for cargo. 20fts on the other hand can be used for cargo, so their journey to get to the UK from the factories in China is either free or heavily subsidised.
