Secure Stores step in to help after break-in
We provide shipping containers for all sorts of situations and clients, from those needing extra secure space to others looking to create bars and workspaces. But being able to help a local community organisation is truly rewarding.
Our MD Sarah just happened to be scrolling through the local Facebook group in Stowupland after Christmas when she saw a heart-breaking message from Stowupland Cricket Club: thieves had targeted the club during the holiday period, making off with a ride-on mower, strimmer and air compressor. The club hadn’t been able to insure any of this equipment because their storage shed wasn’t considered secure enough.
Sarah messaged straight back offering the club a shipping container – totally free of charge, of course.
“I could have cried,” remembers Jonathan Wray from the cricket club. “How wonderful to have such generous people in our community.”
The club is now able to store all the machinery and equipment they need safely and securely. And what Sarah didn’t know is that her timing couldn’t have been better! “We recently had grant approval from the parish council to buy a newer, bigger, more efficient, ride-on mower,” says Jonathan, “but we didn’t want to get it until our storage problems had been solved.”
Making local connections
Stowupland Cricket Club was formed in 1968 and currently has two adult teams playing in the Two Counties cricket league: the first XI are in division five and the second XI play in division nine east. They also have mixed junior teams for most age groups and run the ECB-led courses for children (All Stars and Dynamos).
The team at Secure Stores are passionate about being an active, positive part of the local community. This new tie-up with the cricket club follows the company’s recent announcement that it would be sponsoring two teams at Stowupland Falcons FC.
“I think something like this helps local businesses to understand more about their community,” says Jonathan Wray. “What goes into running a club, what is needed, who is involved and how much time and effort people freely give to provide sport and recreation for others. “
“Hopefully we can help promote Sarah’s business whenever and wherever we can,” he adds, “and we hope to see her down at the club during the cricket season!”
