KeepSpace Storage, located in Goole, Yorkshire, wanted to create a self-storage site with the wow factor. They were looking to start a containerised self-storage site which not only looked impressive, but also combined modern technology to ‘future-proof’ the facility. They also wanted to offer insulated spaces to set them apart from the competition and prevent any risk of condensation. They wanted a cutting-edge site with a premium feel to it.
To achieve their goals, we collaborated with Janus to bring their vision to life.
Secure Stores Nationwide fabricated a range of compartmentalised 40ft High Cube Shipping Containers, split into a range of room sizes. The compartments were lined and insulated by us, and each unit was sprayed a slick anthracite grey externally. Each compartment features a lightweight, easy-to-operate Janus roller door, fitted with their Noke smart access system.
Smart entry with the Noke Access System allows customers to book online (using Stora software) and have smartphone access within 24 hours of booking their unit. This gave their customers the freedom of 24/7 access to their storage unit and the ability to share access with family or friends. Noke allows KeepSpace Storage to monitor customer activity on site, with interior movement sensors and exterior tamper alarms providing security to each storage unit and the ability to manage missed customer payments.
Every detail has been carefully considered, including built-in container tunnels for emergency fire escapes and solid concrete footings to support additional upper levels in the future.
Thanks to the roller door system, there’s no need for aisle space to accommodate outward-opening doors, allowing for narrower aisles and maximum site utilisation.
The smart technology also sets this site apart and provides future proofing. It’s still extremely rare in the UK for containerised self-storage to offer smartphone access.
KeepSpace also has plans to install lifts and expand the facility to a second, and potentially third, level. As shipping containers are stackable, this is easy to achieve.
Shipping containers offer a long-term solution that can be easily reconfigured or relocated if needed. This gives KeepSpace the flexibility to adapt their storage setup as their business evolves.
