Essex Wildlife Trust

The Challenge

Essex Wildlife Trust protects wildlife through landscape conservation, education on its nature reserves, and campaigns that help to give wildlife a greater voice in the county. The Trust is supported by over 1900 volunteers.

They needed additional secure storage at two locations, as well as sheltered space to keep volunteer working parties dry during wet weather. As a charity, they rely on the generosity of members and supporters to fund the vast majority of their work, so funds are understandably always tight.

The Solution

The Trust approached Secure Stores to see if there was anything we could do to help. As a business, we believe in supporting charities and community initiatives wherever possible. It was agreed that we would source two competitively priced second hand containers from our stock and supply them at cost price.

The Benefit

The Trust now has two containers that provide both secure storage for tools and equipment such as chainsaws and brush-cutters, and a sheltered break space during bad weather.

They are also planning to install a rainwater catchment system - including roofing sheets and gutters - on one container, feeding into an existing rainwater tank. This water will then be used to irrigate their orchard. In an area that is relatively dry, the additional surface for collecting rainwater is a significant benefit.
