Cambridge Rugby Club Pop Up Bar

The Challenge

The rugby club wanted to create an additional point of sale for beer during matches, positioned close to supporters around the pitch. 

The aim was to make it easier for fans to grab a drink without having to leave the pitch side area and make their way to another bar or the clubhouse. This would not only improve convenience for supporters but also give the club another opportunity to generate revenue during matchdays. 

Security was also an important consideration. As the unit would be used to store alcohol and bar equipment, it needed to be secure when not in use. 

The club also wanted the bar to fit naturally into its surroundings and reflect its existing colours and branding. 

The Solution

We supplied a new 20ft shipping container to provide the foundations for the club’s new pitch side bar. 

The container was sprayed in the clubs colours, creating a branded base that could then be personalised by the club once delivered. 

A serving hatch was installed in the side of the container and fitted with gas struts. This allows the hatch to be easily opened and held in position while the bar is operating, before being securely closed when the bar is not in use. 

Following delivery, the rugby club added its own logos and signage to the exterior and completed the internal fit out, transforming the container into a fully operational pitch side bar. 

Using a shipping container also provided the club with a strong and durable structure, designed to withstand regular outdoor use. 

The Benefit

The new pitch side bar gives the rugby club an additional point of sale during matchdays, bringing drinks closer to supporters and making it easier for fans to grab a refreshment without missing the action. 

By positioning the bar alongside the pitch, the club has created an additional opportunity to generate matchday revenue while improving convenience for supporters. 

The container also provides a secure solution when the bar is not operating. The serving hatch can be closed and secured, helping protect the contents and equipment between uses. 

With its robust shipping container construction, the bar provides a long lasting solution that can be used throughout the season and beyond.
